After finishing the Artists Eye project piece I started to realise that the salt metaphor is a strong one. Salt in a solution is detectable but not visible to the eye, rather like the memory of a person who has died.
I am interested in exploring the transience of this idea. By creating a sculptural form from salt encrusted fabric a presence is created, a form that represents a fragile existence. By dripping water on to the form it will disintegrate and start a metaphorical process of death leaving a lifeless form. I am interested in filming this process in slow motion and presenting the remaining items (salt solution and fabric) as two additional parts of an installation along with the film in repeat.
