St Pancras Crypt visit

Whilst in London during the weekend I decided to take a look at St Pancras Crypt. I didn’t think there would be an exhibition on so expected just to get an idea of location and take a look from the outside.

As soon as we arrived we discovered that it was the final day of a group exhibition and we were able to take a look around.

I took the opportunity on this visit to get a feeling for the space.

I have previously spent time visiting via the google link below. Going through the space to consider my work in relation to the space.,-0.1295805,3a,75y,331.04h,108.5t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s-1OGNr6Sp-IAAAQun3JGTw!2e0!3e2!7i13312!8i6656

On this visit the space felt familiar but it was a great opportunity to get a thorough sense on the space.

Practically there seemed to be plenty of lighting and electrical points but without an idea of what will be where I couldn’t consider this properly at this point. I will make another visit nearer the time.

The space was cool with chalky walls. The marks and residual evidence of the people who have used the space are evident within the space.

Headstones propped against a wall

Worn edges on entrances and corners.

finger marks on corners

One room had coloured painted walls, reminiscent of an institution.
